Business Journey
Two decades of building systems — first in networks, then in businesses
The career of Syed Kamran Ali runs in two connected chapters: ten years keeping national telecom networks running, and fifteen years founding and running companies on Odoo — in software, in sustainable packaging, and now in AI. This is the sequence, with dates.
-
2004 – 2009
Bachelor of Engineering, Telecommunications
The formal grounding for an instinct that began years earlier, etching circuit boards in a home electronics lab.
-
2005 – 2011
Core Network OMC Engineer, PTCL
Implementation, integration and optimisation of MSC, MGW and HLR core network elements for Pakistan’s national operator. In 2006 PTCL deployed SAP ERP across its operations — the moment I decided any business I ran would run on an ERP from day one.
-
2010 – present
Founded IBEES Consulting Pvt Ltd, Pakistan
Having discovered TinyERP — soon to become Odoo — I founded IBEES to build business systems on it. IBEES has run on Odoo since its first day, which is why I talk about ERP as a business owner and not only as a consultant. IBEES operates today from the United Kingdom and Pakistan.

2011 – 2018
Core Network Engineer, Huawei and Ooredoo Oman
Core Network O&M for Huawei in Lahore, then seven years in Muscat as IMS-NGN Core Network Engineer on the Ooredoo SVMS managed-service project (Hayat Communications), followed by an IMS Engineer role with Huawei Technologies. Awarded Ooredoo SVMS Excellent Staff for outstanding performance in 2015.
-
2016 – present
Entered sustainable packaging manufacturing
A deliberate move from software into physical production. Custom packaging is a demanding operations problem — dielines, structural engineering, multi-step finishing, global logistics — and the right place to prove that Odoo could run a factory, not just an office. The packaging businesses that grew from this remain in operation today.
-
2018 – present
Founded K & A World LLC, United States
The holding company for the packaging brands Packhit (custom printed packaging) and Sleekboxes (luxury rigid boxes for agencies and campaigns). K & A World Ltd in the United Kingdom followed, holding Packhit UK, IBEES Consulting UK and SEMONTIC.AI.
-
2020 – present
CEO, IBEES Consulting UK — Official Odoo Partner
Based in Northamptonshire, IBEES Consulting UK leads Odoo ERP transformation for growing organisations and is recognised by Odoo S.A. as an Official Odoo Partner in the United Kingdom.

2025 – present
Founded SEMONTIC.AI
A project of K & A World Ltd. The first knowledge-driven Semantic SEO platform — semantics × ontologies — that models a website as a knowledge graph for search engines and AI systems. Built natively on Odoo.

Operating Today
Every business on this timeline is still running
None of these were exits or experiments. They are live companies I lead or own today, alongside my public work as That Odoo Guy.

The Common Thread
Different industries, one discipline
Telecom core networks, ERP consulting, packaging factories and a semantic AI platform look unrelated. They are not. Each one is a system where people, processes and tools have to agree — and where reliability is non-negotiable because real operations depend on it. That is the discipline I bring to every business I found and every client I advise.
